Say More… is CCA’s new Thought Leadership Series, and it is exactly what it sounds like. Not a webinar. Not a CE session. A conversation. The kind of conversation that makes you think differently about the work you do, the people who sit across from you, and the world at large.

Every session features guests whose stories and experiences illuminate something important about the human experience through a clinical lens. The goal is simple: to make us better at what we do by feeling and thinking more deeply about what our clients carry or what is happening in the world around us.

    Samuel del Rosario

    ABOUT THIS CONVERSATION

Samuel del Rosario is a California attorney, an MFA-trained actor with credits at Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Shotgun Players, and HBO, and an emerging playwright whose work explores identity, belonging, and resilience. He is also someone who came out to his father and has spent years living with what came after.

Samuel wrote a deeply personal narrative about that experience. It begins on a significant day when his father was visiting San Francisco, near the Golden Gate Bridge, and it travels through years of silence, a month-long walk across the Camino de Santiago in Spain, and ultimately to a hard-won understanding of what it means to love yourself when a parent cannot.

Kenneth Edwards, PhD, LPCC, CCA Executive Director will sit with Samuel and explore his story through the eyes of a mental health clinician. Not as a case study. As a human being. The conversation centers around the questions that we ask ourselves in the therapy room: about conditional love, about the patterns we inherit, about the moments that break us open and the ones that put us back together.

“Your rejection doesn’t just hurt in the moment. It echoes through every relationship your son will ever have. It shapes the way he sees himself, the way he loves, the choices he makes.”

    — Samuel del Rosario

    WHO IS THIS FOR

Say More… is designed for seasoned clinicians, counselors, educators, and supervisors who want more than CE credit. It is for professionals who want to think, feel, and talk about the things that matter in the room with clients. Every conversation in this series is chosen because it sheds light on the human experience in ways that make us better at what we do.

This is not an event for any one specialty or license type. If you sit with people, this is for you.

Advocacy is a central part of the counseling profession, yet many counselors and counselors-in-training are unsure how to engage in legislative advocacy or how policy decisions affect their daily work. The California Counseling Association’s Legislative & Advocacy Committee is hosting an Advocacy Town Hall to help bridge that gap.

The California Counseling Association invites you to join us for our FIRST Legislative and Advocacy Town Hall focused on strengthening the counseling profession in California.

Introducing CCA’s legislative and advocacy priorities, this meeting will:

    - Highlight current state and national issues affecting Counselors,

    - Offer practical guidance on how members can engage in legislative advocacy,

    - Discuss the role of advocacy in professional counseling, how advocacy differs from client advocacy or self-advocacy, and how counselors can participate in advocacy efforts at the state and national level.

    Special Guests:

Steve Sodegren, Executive Officer, Board of Behavioral Sciences

Patsy Cunningham, Government Affairs, American Counseling Association

Who: All Counselors, Counselor Educators, Supervisors, Associates, Students, and Counseling Leaders. CCA Members and Prospective Members Invited.
